For my sweet sixteen I knew I wanted to do something other than rent a hall and d.j., but I had no idea where to start. My birthday is in February so I decided my theme was going to be Mardi Gras. This is a great theme for any party. I rented out the Penthouse and a hotel that is situated in the middle of a rather large plaza. The Penthouse has a sitting area, extremely large bathroom, with a jacuzzi tub, a plasma screen tv, along with a dvd player, and of course a california king size bed. Most hotels have this type of room, and it is great for parties of about twenty. I decorated the room in Mardi gras paraphanelia: Beads, streamers, garland, etc. We all met at the hotel, and walked to my favorite restaurant (which is in the plaza). It is a mexican restaurant (hence the title) and we ate, and had virgin margaritas. Then we went back to the room. With all the seating the room offers everyone was able to sit and be comfortable as I opened presents, and cut the cake. Around 10p.m. the guys went home. We (all the rest of the girls) watched movies, and ate all kinds of junkfood. We played games and talked. The swimming pool was available downstairs, but it was raining. The jacuzzi tub was second best. Clean Up is easy because you dont have to, and that is definately a plus about going to hotel. For parent, mine rented the room across the hall to make sure everything went smoothly and to make noise less of a problem.
