My friend's Sweet Sixteen birthday bash was really cool. She started off by inviting 30 of her friends, from school and church via emailing invitations. She bought lots of streamers in the colors of purple, yellow, pastel blue, white and pastel pink and covered the entire celling of the her family room with them. She started off by attaching all of the streamers to the ends of the room and then brought them all to the center. In the center of the celling hung a beautiful flower piece which she made herself. All she used was a large styrofoam ball and covered it in fake flowers (bought at a dollar store)in the colors to match the streamers and green plastic vine (also bought at dollar store). She then warpped colored christmas tree lights around this and then used the extra light to weave around the streamers and brought them to the four corners of the room, to make an "x" shape with the lights. Next, she took more fake flowers and covered the bottom edges of the window sils with them. She bought two lava lamps (one pink, one purple) at Wal-Mart and put them on either sides of the sofa in the family room, on the end tables. A huge piece of bright pink material, cut into a rectangular shape, was used as a mat to put in the center of the room. one table, which was designated for her cake, had a long, drapping pink sheer table cloth over it. A clear vase on it contained two roses (one white, one pink) and a huge pink balloon with "Sweet Sixteen" on it. Another table, designated for food, had two purple gel candles in champagne flutes (also bought at a dollar store) and another pink sheer table cloth covered the table. All the tables also were sprinkled with pink heart confetti. With the light turned off and the lava lamps and christmas lights turned on and candles lit, the room looked so beautiful!  As entertainment, we went outside into my friend's padio and backyard for a Barbeque. The entire padio was decorated with colored Christmas lights and the table contained huge candles (in the colors of pink, purple and yellow) and more sprinkled confetti. We had Barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers and also in the backyard, they had one of those wired fire pit things, in which they used to roast marshmellows on.We also had plain chips and dip, nachos and salsa, brownies, pop (in pink and yellow plastic glasses), and party mix.   After we went inside, and played two games: Limbo and Pin-the-tail-On-The-Donkey, for a laugh! Prizes were cheep plastic gold crowns (bought at a dollar store) and a plastic hawaiian lei (also bought at dollar store - 4 leis for $1.00). Then we had karaoke (my friend loves to sing). The prize for that was a cheep plastic microphone that made echo sounds (one of the neon colored ones that you had when you were a kid). She had bought this, too, at the dollar store. After that, we had cake. She had her cake custom made at a bakery. It was a Tinkerbelle cake (my friend's favorite cartoon character since she was little) and had "Sweet Sixteen" written in pink. After the cake, she opened her presents and then we all watched a movie on her DVD player. The movie was "Along Came Polly" with Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller. It was soo funny! The party was a hit and everyone had fun!
