For my daughter's 16th birthday, it was difficult to come up with an idea that wasn't lame...mostly teenage girls like to hang out and dance and gab. So I combined a few ideas that I got from
different party sites. We planned a club nite for the girls. We decorated our livingroom and kitchen like a niteclub/bar complete with disco balls and lava lamps and strobe lighting. We used
black and pink balloons with silver ribbon and pink and black streamers and table accessories. We hung black, gold and silver stars from the ceiling(it was a party curtain we bought at a local
shop and cut it up)I made a centerpiece with a pedestal bowl and crystal pink and white rocks with pink lighted floating candles. We bought each girl lighted marguerita glasses at our dollar
store and selected five virgin drinks they could choose from and bought the supplies and garnishes at the grocery store. We rented an extra dance dance revolution mat and made retro cds of
songs they'd remember from their childhood up to now. This was their entertainment for most of the night. They really occupied themselves most of the time. Especially with us making the
drinks, it ate up a lot of time. We bought pub snacks like chicken wings and cheese sticks and appetizers as well as nacho's and dip and chips and pretzels. They ate up a storm. The party
favors were trendy tote bags I got for 2 dollars at a local jean shop and filled them with poprocks, chips, partypoppers(which they popped as soon as they arrived), the marguerita glasses and
other teenage items. The tote bag was the real hit! Then I secretly bought two cans of silly string and, after her gifts were opened, I let her friends silly string her. It was quite
entertaining! Then we played a multiple choice trivia game about my daughter to see which friends knew her best and we gave out trophies for it as well as two surprise bags to the highest
scores(surprise bags from the local costume jewellery shop). All in all it was a fun party; we didn't go bankrupt and we were able to buy her the gift she wanted. Her cake was an icecream cake
with a vw bettle on it and happy sweet 16.
