Sweet 16 or Teenage birthday (low budget range) party idea.  I had a hard time deciding what to do for my daughter's sweet sixteen party. She has an October birthday so outside parties in Ohio are out! I ended up doing a "Glamour Party."  What a success!  It was wonderful. About a month ahead of time I told everyone at work to start collecting cool stuff for pictures. Sparkley shirts and dresses, cowboy hats, denium jackets, leather jackets and caps. (I labeled inside everything with stickers who the donor was for easy return.) I went to Garden Ridge (local home decor and craft shop)and bought four different colored feather boas.  I had my mom (and older people are great for this) gather up the old costume jewlry with the clip on ear rings. All this stuff was flashy rinestones, gold tones, and big, big and sparkley.  I went to the fabric store and bought 3 differnt colors (gold, green and purple fabric, it was like a paper thin very shiney sparkley fabric @ 1.99 yd. I got 1 1/2 yards of each color. I bought ahead of time all the sweet 16 party decorations for decorating, I also bought ahead of time 2 packages of photo paper (soft gloss or matt finish for best results)and two ink cartridges.  (I only ended up needing one though). I got two girls from the office to volunteer (helps to have great friends), to do the make up and hair styling.  Be selective. Find someone in the office who does a great job on their own hair and make up. Then I hit family dollar.  I bought one $1.00 8x10 picture frame for each guest coming as a party favor and lots of cheap make up, eyeliner, blush, base, eyeshadow. Amazing what you can get there for just 10 bucks!  Then I sent out invitations informing the kids of the "Glamour Party."  I told them to make sure to bring their own brush or comb and a tube top or speghetti noodle under shirt to wear under their clothing.  I advertised on the invitation that each child would get their own 8x10 and a sheet of wallets to share with friends. I didn't state the photos were not professionally done, but I didn't say they were and I was sure to put there were absolutely no sales involved, so parents would not think it was the sales gimmick thing.  I pinned a flat queen size bed sheet to one wall in the house, I made sure it was a neutral color but that it had print. Mine was beige and had like brown splashes in with it, try to tack it with no bubbles, rolls or ridges, otherwise it will show in the photo.  I got the old kitchen step stool ladder thing out and covered it with the other matching sheet for the girls to sit on.  Then I took a higher table to sit in front of the girls (or behind to prop the elbows on in some poses) and covered it with the matching pillow case.   Then the fun began, kids came over, be sure to have munchies or we just did Domino's pizza for everyone to eat while the chaos starts.  The girls have a blast picking out their wardrobe and jewelry, then they get their hairstyled and make up done, then I took the photos. Then we printed them and everyone had something to take home.  It was nice because I took several poses of each girl, they picked what they wanted, and since it was at home they could mix match the wallets and get some of everything.  It is amazing how close to the "real thing" they turned out!  Of course I owe alot to my make over crew.   Now for the bad news!  I thought it would take from maybe 2-6pm.  I didn't end up finished until about 9:30.  The saving, croping, correcting and printing takes awhile. My suggestion limit the number of guests or start alot earlier.  I had 14 girls, plus mine.  My make over crew and myself were literally exhausted.    Good news, my daughter said she never had such a great birthday. And the girls were making comments like "I wish my mom would do something like this."  Ok here is the breakdown: Boa's 12.00, Fabric $9.00, Frames 15.00, Make up 10.00, photo paper 15.00, ink 35.00, cake 20.00, ice cream 5.00, drinks 5.00, pizza 30.00, decorations 30.00.  The neat thing about this party if you are on a low budget, cut out the pizza and don't buy the fabric, it wasn't necessary, the kids truly liked the boas and the denium and leather jackets the best of it all.  Also you can buy most of this alittle at a time ahead of time. Everyone had a great time and the girls turned out really beautiful in their pictures! Even the adults had a very good time, tired but fun!
