SWEET 16th LUAU AT THE RIVER Well for my Sweet 16th Birthday Bash I decided to do something a little different and go with a party at the river. We live only 5 miles from the Suwannee River.  Suwannee River Springs is actually where the party took place. First I made invitations for about 90 people (30 family 60 friends)and inside I wrote (I will just FLIP if you come to my party because it will just FLOP without you)and placed and small flip-flop note pad inside. Also everyone had their names written in Hawaiian (you can find these at google.com). For food we had shiskabobs, Hawaiian pizzas, and the most awesome wings recipe made with pineapple juice they were great. We also had fruit shiskabobs they included grapes, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, oranges, and marshmallows covered in either white or dark chocolate The drinks were made with a battery operated blender we had wonderfully delicious fruit smoothies with the little umbrellas. The games that we played were limbo, watermelon roll (this is where each person has to roll a watermelon a certain distance with only their feet), and we even had a conga line going around the other people in the park thought we were crazy I am sure but we had a great time doing that, next we had a huge rope and we played tug"o"war of course the girls won (even though their were 2 girls to every 1 boy, we kind cheated and the boys ended up in the big hole of mud they were covered it was to funny especially when we broke out the camera and gave the pictures to their parents in frames).  We ordered leis, hair combs, shell necklaces, blow up palm trees, beach balls, and grass skirts for everyone. Also at the party we had a contest, this was when each person got to the luau they had to trade in their shoes for a pair of flip-flops and on the bottom of each flip-flop their was a prize description and if between the hour of 4-5 if you talked a person of the opposite sex you must trade you shoes with them and they get your prize and you get their's it was a lot of fun because it is really hard. Also I ordered a large sunset background for pictures it was really awesome and I took pictures of everyone and placed them in pre-made picture frames that I glued palm tree leaves on the edges.  Everyone loved them even the parents. Also everyone got a T-shirt that read (I survived Ashley's Sweet 16th Luau) and they we in different sizes to accommodate all of the guest.  Also I hired two real life hula dancers to come and teach everyone how to hula they were only supposed to stay half an hour but they ended up staying the whole time they said it was the best party they have a ever preformed for. It was really a great party and everyone wore their shirts to school the next day that was pretty funny, its not everyday you turn 16 to enjoy it to the fullest.
