I am on a team of eleven young adults who travel around the country working with middle school and high school aged youth. I was spending my eighteenth birthday away from home and was a little sad.  My team quickly fixed that by giving me the best birthday ever.  I awoke to one of my teammates singing "Happy Birthday" and the day began with the girls "kidnapping" me for a morning of pampering.  Manicures, peticures, facials, etc.- we had it all! Then the guys came, and they all took me out to my favorite restaurant and surprised me with lunch and cake.  After lunch I was instructed to "get in the van" with no clue as to where we were going. Suddenly, they turned on the "Walk to Remember" soundtrack (my favorite movie.)  We pulled over on the side of the road, and as I looked up, I realized that we were on the Montana/North Dakota border.  I got to be in two places at once (one foot in Montana, the other in North Dakota) and accomplish one of the things on my list of "101 Things to Do Before I Die" (like in the movie.) It was the perfect end to the perfect day...or so I thought. We all returned to the different "host homes" at which we were staying, and just as I was finishing dinner, one of my teammates knocks at the door and tells me to "get my coat and get in the van."  The night wasn't over!!  My team then took my to a local theater performance of "Miracle on 34th Street."  From there, we dropped everyone off at their host homes.  What I didn't realize in the dark, unfamiliar neighborhood was that they were just driving around the block and dropping everyone off at the same house! I certainly was surprised when we stopped at a host home to "pick up something we'd forgotten" to find my team with another surprise party!! They decorated, got me presents, wrote cards, had a cake, and sang "Happy Birthday" for the 20th time that day.  Anytime I'm having a bad day, I just watch that videotape. It was my best birthday ever, thanks to my caring team.  They're amazing.  :)
