For my daughter's 13th Birthday, we did a Mall Scavenger Hunt.
Six girls participated- 3 groups of 2. Each group received $20.00, a disposable camera and a list of tasks. Time Limit = 90 minutes. Each group had a cell phone and I stayed at the Starbucks in the mall that was designated Headquarters in case any one got lost or needed help. Pictures to be taken by each group during the hunt included: one of the girls wearing a funny hat, someone in the mall eating ice cream, a girl riding the "giraffe" on the carrousel, a girl with a cute guy. Some of the tasks included buying various things in the mall (these were then given to the birthday girl at the end) and performing various tasks such as finding 5 free items. I also included as part of the hunt riddles such ((buy a $2.99 earring at the store named after the daughter of the king and queen = The Princess Store and go to the ((athb nda doyb pohs)) and buy an item for under $2.00. I also included questions such as " What movie is playing at the Disney Store?" and what are the phone numbers of the 2 pay phones by Customer Service? The final task was to buy a note card and stamp and write a Birthday note to the birthday girl and find the US Mail in the mall! The first group back within the time limit with all the correct items and questions answered was the winner! As soon as the 3 groups were back, I dropped off the disposable cameras at Wolf Camera in the mall and while the girls had their toenails painted at the nail salon, the pictures were developed. Finally we had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and laughed over the days festivities and pictures. My daughter said she LOVED her birthday celebration and that she will always remember her 13th Birthday Mall Scavenger Hunt!
