Halloween Party 14yr

April 2007

Anna in York, England

My friends and I wanted a Halloween party, and so we decided to have a spooky sleepover.  INVITATIONS:- The original party was for four 14-year-olds and their two twelve-year-old sisters, but it would work for any older kids and for more people, and instead of for Halloween would work as a spooky party! It was a sleepover, but if you can't do this it would still be fun for an afternoon. For invites, why not try making bat shaped invitations? Add halloween sweets inside to make it even more lovely to get! PREPARATIONS:- We all arrived in the afternoon, and had fun setting up the downstairs to look spooky with decorations like spider webs and material in halloween colours. We made the food ourselves: green jelly with jelly worms, sandwiches with sausages or cheese poking out to look like hands, a cake shaped like a witch (we cooked two round chocolate cakes, and cut a triangle for the hat out of one. The other circle was used by cutting off the top so that the triange fits on. The semi-circle cut off the top of the face can be placed to make a 3D brim, and the whole thing iced and decorated), pizza (of course!),fizzy drinks with coloured ice cubes (just add some food colouring - green works best - when setting them.), pumpkin soup and sweets in cauldrons. You could set this up by yourself or with one other friend, but we loved doing this part together! THE PARTY:- We split into pairs and did pumpkin carving, which was hilarious (but messy - the reason we didn't do it after we got changed), and then we all went upstairs to get changed - costumes are so much fun - and then sat down to eat (see PREPARATIONS). By then it was dark, so we went outside and played with sparklers and displayed our jack-o-lanterns! Next we did apple bobbing (if you don't like getting everything wet, try dropping a fork using your mouth whilst kneeling on a chair. If the fork gets stuck in an apple, you win!). We went back inside and ate the cake, then amused ourselves with our favourite movies (you could watch more matching spooky movies, but we prefer romantic comedies!). We had a wonderful time!
