For my fifteenth birthday party (which was in June), I decided to have a Fairy/Blue's Clues party, to show that I'm not gonna grow up in a hurry! For
invitations, I bought little flat chocolate bars, removed the paper wrapper and created wrappers of my own on the computer, which included the info, a picture of me and my friends when we
were five, and the blues clues logo. I asked them to come dressed in something "magical". On the night, I had the lights turned off, and fairy lights everywhere. I decorated a white
lamp with red dots, to make it look like a toadstool. I had little confetti stars and glitter everywhere, and pictures of Blue's Clues and mythical creatures up on the wall. I had blown up
300 balloons, and these were covering the floor. On the "comfy chair" (which is a red armchair we got off a friend, that looks suprisingly like the real thing!) sat a soft toy Blue,
which I had gotten off a friend for my birthday.
When everyone arrived (we were dressed as a fairy, wizard, gypsy, hobbit and magician), I handed them little gift bags which had in them a blues clues notebook I had printed off the net (nickjr.com), a crayon, a few little lollies, a balloon and a party popper. We watched a video of Blues Clues I had received for my birthday, in order to prepare us for the next step: Playing Blue's Clues! I had printed off 3 blue paw prints off the net (nickjr.com again), and placed them on 3 separate places around the house (an electrical outlet, the heater vent, and my clothes drawer). We walked around, until we found all 3 clues, and drew them into our notebooks. When we put them together, we found out that Blue wanted us to look in THE CLOTHES DRYER! (it was turned off). We walked to the laundry, opened it up, and found 5 little bags of chocolate fairies I had made earlier with moulds I picked up real cheap from Lincraft. (the party was in winter, so they didn't melt). After this, we walked up to the video store (we got quite a few funny looks and comments), then walked back to have dinner, which consisted of Fairy Wings (chicken wings in pink sauce), Potato Gems, Magic Wands (star shaped sugar cookies with a straw put in while still soft, and sprinkles on top), Fairy Bread and Pink and Purple meringues. After dinner, we played a game of pass the parcel (the center was a block of chocolate), and a game of "Pin the Flag on Mailbox" (I downloaded a picture of mailbox off nickjr.com, colored it in and taped it to a pinboard. I gave everyone little red flags with their name on). After that, we played Piņata soccer. I had covered 5 blown up balloons with papermache, then when dry, cut a hole in and filled with a little bag of lollies, and a few homemade mini wands (little wooden stars stuck on toothpicks, sprayed silver, and covered with beads). I then covered the papermache "eggs" with paints, using the colors of the rainbow. I gave each of my friends one of these on the night, and we kicked/punched/headbutted them around until they broke. They put the lollies into their bags. After this, everyone went home. 6 months later, we still talk about this party. It was nice to be able to have some fun with my friends without alcohol or loud music, as most kids our age are into.
