For my 13th birthday, I wanted to do something special so I came up with a music/karaoke themed party. Invitations: I just printed off invitations using Microsoft Publisher, using music-themed pictures like music notes and a group of dancers. My theme colors for the invites and the party all together was black, silver, white, blue, and purple. When the girls started arriving at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, we kind of just hung out and talked and played charades while eating veggies and Cheetos and B-B-Q chips. Eventually, it was time for the craft. We were going to have a scavenger hunt in the neighborhood and I wanted something to sport our teams, so we bought packs of plain white under-tank tops from target: extra large boy sizes and medium mens for the larger girls. We then went to Michael's and bought iron-on icons of monkeys, hearts with wings, and guitars. We ironed them on the front of the shirt a couple nights before to be ready for the party. We also bought different colored fabric pens for the craft. The craft was this: we passed out shirts to the designated team-members. We then had everyone sign our tank tops on the back to remember who was at the party. After that, we had our scavenger hunt. There were 6 streets we could go on, and one team could only go there once and get, at maximum, 2 items (for example: the Monkeys go to house #1 and get items. The Rockers and the Flying Hearts are not allowed to go there now). We had a map of the areas printed out courtesy of MapQuest, and a list of the items that we had to figure out; they were RIDDLES (and I didn't come up with them; my parents and grandma did). You should make some of them difficult and some of them fairly easy. My parents and grandma then strolled around, making sure we were okay. After that, the winning team won prizes (little simple ones like lipgloss and little notebooks that were $1), and it was dark out, so we then had a pinata! It originally was a Hannah Montana guitar, but we took off the Hannah wrapping and replaced it with black paper. We did that and it was alot of fun, filled with Skittles and Starbursts, candybars and such. After that, we had dinner, on three long tables put together for all 16 of us, which had decorations and table cloths. We had mozzarella sticks, pizza, and salad. Next, we just hung out, jumping on the trampoline, talking, and listening to music. We then gathered inside to do karaoke. We were cracking ourselves up as we sang 'Copa Cobana' and 'Laughter in the Rain'. It was a ton of fun. Some of us still lingered as we sang away, while others went out to the trampoline again and jumped and played games. We then came in and had cake that had black, purple, and blue icing ballons on it, still singing, and hung out. Then came presents, and the moms started coming to pick up their daughters at 9:30 pm. We just hung out until the last five best friends were left. They got to spend the night. We ate left-over pizza, played some really fun hide and seek, watched '13 going on 30' and unfortunately didn't stay up THAT late. ;) The next morning, we had MORE pizza (we bought WAY too much), had muffins, and jumped on the trampoline. The girls eventually had to leave at 10:30, but I had a GREAT time. It was a wonderful party!!! Thank you, Mama, Daddy, and Grandma for making it possible!
