Award

Date

For the invitations, we wrapped cardstock in gold wrapping paper and printed out labels like the golden ticket in the movie and book. It said something similar to the real golden ticket, but had the date, time, etc. on it. We slipped the invitations into full sized chocolate bars between the silver and the outer paper. I invited 4 people, plus myself makes five.  Each person was given a character and we bought a piece of clothing for that character.  Veruca had a hair bow, Violet, had a piece of bubble gum, Mike Teavee had antenaes, and Augustus had a striped shirt. When the guests arrived, we had the movie playing for them to watch and chips and candy out for them to eat. For the activities, we had five games.  one for each character (everyone played) Violet Squeezing We had a bucket of water and foam blue balls in there that absorbed water.  The person had to use kitchen tongs and transport the ball with the water into a bowl with a large funnel on top (to reduce clean-up)  Each person had a minute to do so.  Whoever got the most water got the most Wonka Bucks (small pieces of paper made on the computer) Taste Test For Augustus we bought a pack of 40 flavors of jelly beans and had the guests go at their pace to try to guess what flavor each one is.  There were also 5 types of chocolate bars to taste as well. Pin the Squirrel on veruca. Played like pin the tail on the donkey.  blindfolded, and spun three times before trying to place a piece of paper with a squirrel on it (tape on the back) onto a picture of Veruca with a squirrel on her head. Winner is the person that gets closest to the actual picture of the squirrel. Mike TV Game Guests had to put marshmallows on a spoon and but the handle of the spoon into their mouth and try to walk and get the marshmallows into a box colored to look like a tv. To make it more challenging, we wrapped large rimmed- white sunglasses in green siran wrap so you cant see very well. Trivia Trivia questions based on the movie were handed out.  you got a wonka dollar for each correct answer.  To pick the order of who goes first we had golden easter eggs with a number inside for each game.  After the party was done, we had an auction. We put one item inside a box and let everyone bid on it.  We revealed what the item was and the highest bidder got it. There were six candy items.  (Two chocolate bunnies, 3 golden eggs bought at Kroger, and one assortment of wonka candy) Everyone had a great time.
