I'm quite a party animal, but what I love even more then going to parties is throwing them! Last March I threw my very good friend a 13th Birthday Party to die
for. The them was Candy Land" and it wasn't just a little bit of candy.. it was ALOT.. and by alot probably close to 200 dollars in Candy. I must add that is was a very easy theme to
follow because Candy is extremly colorful and makes for great decorations and adds a festive vibe. As far as invitations go I made a simple and tasteful flyer type invite. The boarder was
made up of candy (naturally) and I used colorful creative fonts. Over the next three weeks between sending out the invitations and the party itself my friends and I began to collect mass
amounts of candy. I made center pieces out of cheap dollar store cups which i filled with gumballs to hold up lollipops and pixi sticks. Also we got a lollipop "tree" it was more so
a triangular cardboard figure which held about 1000 lollipops. Of course being the suger hugrey teens we are I made sure every slot was filled with about 15 different brands of lollipops. I
bought large plastic platters and placed candy in different designs then placed them on a large table along a wall so it was like a candy Buffet. We also got plastic flowers in neon colors
and cheap vases in with the flowers we put large colorful lollipops. Along my pretty plain white colored walls we used streamers to right "candy land" and "yummy" and etc.
We wrapped colums in my basemnt in streamers to make then look like candy canes. For food we served snacks in candy colored bowls and for dessert we went for a cleaner snack and did cookie
cakes. In the last year I've had about 4 parites and I always have cookie cakes. One because there easier to serve and cut. Two because who doesnt like cookies? Plus there never to dry and
the frosting is never gross. Overall I think cookie cakes work out really well. The party was about 3 hours long and consisted of 50 or 60 13 year olds in a basement. There was alot of
dancing and being crazy.. and of course the infamous Truth or Dare. Overall the candy land themed proved to be a hit. I'm currently planning another party and my friends always request that i
have just as much candy :]. I hope this was help for you sweets lovers and don't forget to brush your teeth. ;] -Meghan (13)"
