My Awsome Luau Party 13yr

June 2008

Emily in Orange County, California, USA

I am turning 13 years old, and my parents gave me a HUGE amount of money too use for my party, They gave me $200! Of course, I DID NOT use all of it, but I did have some fun buying stuff. INVITATIONS: Okay I did not want to go all out with invitations so I just printed off the internet these cute little hawaiian flyer type invites, the had a beach scene on it and I sprinkled sand on it and stuck the sand on with glue. I put all the info on it and told them to RSVP! (of course) DECORATIONS: I had a lot of fun with this part. I had the party in my backyard and I stuck tiki torches in the ground and hung lanterns and string lights all around. Then I put a blue, white, green, and orange striped tablecloth on the table. I put colored paper plates(in the colors above) on the table, utensils, etc. I folded white, green, and blue bandannas into pinwheels and I put them on their plates, they could take these home later.I had a tent set up decorated with leis and string lights. ACTIVITIES/GAMES:We played in our pool and did all sorts of the usual games. COSTUMES:No one was dressed in costumes just in shorsts, T-shirt and bathing suits. PARTY SNACKS: We had the usual, chips and dip cookies, candy, etc. For dinner we had pizza and hot dogs. The drinks were fruit smoothies that my sister blended for us, they were great!CAKE: The cake was a 3 teir cake-it was small but the teirs made it bigger On the bottom teir was waves and little fondant surfboards, the middle tier was grahmcraccker crumbs as the sand with fondant beach towels and fondant girls in bikinis and sunglasses. The top teir was the sky with birds in the sky and a big sun. It tasted really good, it was a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. Because I DID NOT want to use money on a huge cake I baked and frosted it myself. I only bought some pastrybags and tips. And the fondant I got from a friend's mom who is a pro cake baker/decorator. FAVORS: I sewed towels into bags using Martha Stewarts online template. I used bright fun summer designs and the 9 girls I had over loved them. I filled them with sunglasses, candy, these cute bikinis, and flipflops that they decorated, I also put a BEACH BOYS CD in each of their bags. There was some space left over so I also put a AE gift card in each, they had $25 on each.  Hope this helps anyone.
