For my 15th birthday, I am having a luau. I am making the invitations out of Hawaiian background pictures I found on the internet. They will say when the party is, what to wear and
bring, because it is a sleepover, and give an RSVP phone number. I will put it in an old fashioned root beer bottle and send it to them as a message in a bottle. When the guests
arrive, they can go out back and swim in my pool, I have a blow up whale that can be in there, and eat snacks which I have set up on 2 tables, like goldfish crackers in a sand pail, and pina
coloda (which I found a recipe for at cookbooks.com), and pineapple, kiwis and other fruits that I will place in my tiki fruit bowl. My sister agreed to play the part of
"maid" in my party if I make her an apron, so she will take my friends' orders for snacks and bring it to them, also towels and sunscreen...etc. I will have Hawaiian music
playing.
We can also jump on the trampoline and sunbathe. It is free time. Next we will do the pi±ata. It will be shaped like a pineapple if I can find one. Then we will have a contest for the best Hawaiian-looking costume, which I will be judging, (not participating in) and the winner gets a whole container of sprinkles, which I will explain later. Then we get in cars, and my parents will drive us to the mall, with us still wearing our Hawaiian attire. There, I will take pictures of them and of funny looks the people give us for wearing luau stuff in a mall. Then, I will split the guests into 2 teams. I will give them each 20 dollars, to use to buy me the things they think I want the most, they have a half an hour only, and the members of the group that buys stuff that I like the most will be awarded a beach ball and lei. Then we will be back at my house, we will swim if we want to, or play limbo. Then, it is dinner time. We will eat shish kabobs with chicken, and weÆll eat pizza. We will open presents, and I will have a tub of vanilla ice cream that I will put Hawaiian decor on. I will blow out the candles on ice cream, and then we will all get cups to put some in. The cups are hard plastic with cute butterflies and other decorations on the handle part. They can make milkshakes. There will be milk, sprinkles, (the person who won the costume contest gets a whole one for herself) maraschino cherries, and caramel. I will have the tiki torches on outside and votive candles will be around the yard and our waterfall. There will be white Christmas lights around my gazebo to give it a festive look, and on the gazebo, above the food table will be a tiki bar poster sign. I will also have some tropical fish, parrots, crabs...etc. beanie babies as decorations. The cups have cute designs on them that they used, so they will keep those. Then we will go outside and roast marshmallows over the barbeque, and we will drink old fashioned root beer if they arenÆt full yet, weÆll sing campfire songs, and itÆll be almost like a bonfire on the beach, except that we canÆt have real bonfires in September. Then we will take turns showering and such, and weÆll do manicures and pedicures and makeup while we watch a movie. By now it is going to be late, so weÆll go outside to the tent I set up earlier, and we will sleep in there. It will have a tiki lounge poster on it. In the morning, we will wakeup, and we will go make fruit smoothies and eat watermelon and kiwis and other fruit that we have left. Then we will sit in my living room until their parents pick them up.
