Daughters' 13th Birthday - Luau The kids had a blast. She invited 40 kids, all were asked to dress for the occassion. The decorations really made the party, and all were purchased
from Oriental Trading in the off season at a discount. We had Tiki lights all around the dance area with a bubble machine blowing up from under the DJ area, which some older teenagers
enjoyed doing.
We had an inflatable palm tree, door leis, colored table covers with flowers torn from the leis decorating all the tables. Each table had a glass dish with colorful shells in the bottom and floating candles in the shapes of palm tress or flip flops that was lit as the dancing began. We also had beach volleyball right out the back of the building. We served topical punch with pineapples and cherries floating with umbellera's on each cup. There were finger foods available along with fruit kabobs. Each child was given a lei upon entering. For entertainment we did the limbo contest, a hula contest and best dressed for occassion contest. Each winner was given a body jewel that glowed, such as necklace or magnetic earrings or tattoo's that glowed. They enjoyed doing the old dances, such as rocky top, the hokey pokey, the chicken and the macarenia. The dance was a huge success and a rememberable one for all especially the birthday girl.
