Since I am a GIGANTIC movie fan and a wanna-be actress, my parents threw me a party in the fashion of a Movie Premiere. The invitations looked like movie tickets and said: This ticket allows one to "Christina's Sweet 16". My uncle (dressed in a tux)took care of the "VIP list" that the names of the kids invited were on. Upon entering the kids had to check with him to make sure they were on the list then they proceeded into the hall we rented on a red carpet.  We decorated the tables with black table clothes and gold and silver balloons. There was gold star glitter sprinkled on all the tables. On the buffet table the forks, knives and chips/pretzels were in plastic top hats bought at the party store.  Each child got a favor (picture frame, star shaped sunglasses, candy) all put into a real red/white popcorn box. It was a dress up party and all the girls wore feather boas and fancy jewelry...some even high gloves...anything that made them look like \*stars\*. My parents surprisingly had the DJ announce my name as if I had won an academy award and then gave me a fake one. I even got to give an acceptance speech. We had a great DJ with a light show and all...everyone had a great time and I still hear people talk about it.
