For my 13th birthday, I wanted to have a big party, and my parents didn't want to spend too much money on it. So, my dad suggested that we do a scavenger hunt in
Washington DC. My dad went to DC about a week before the party and took close-up pictures of random things in the museums. For example, if it was a dinosaur, the picture would be only of it's
foot. Then when he came home, he put the pictures on the computer, made booklets for each of my friends, and put little clues under each picture. I didn't see any of these things before the
party so that I could participate in the hunt too. I invited about 10 of my best friends to come to my house at 7:30 AM on the day of the party. We ate breakfast and made signs to tape to my
car windows. They said things like Honk if you have a horn!" Then we counted how many people honked. The road trip was only half the fun. My family has a 12-passenger van so we all fit
in one car. Then when we got there we roamed around the museums looking for the things in our booklets. We ate lunch at one of the museums and continued our hunt. It was so much fun. Then on
the way home we stopped at Bertucci's for pizza. We got back to my house at about 11 PM. We had ice cream while we looked at all the pictures we took during the day. My friends and I stayed
up until about 2 AM just talking and playing normal sleepover games. The next day we slept in until 10 had breakfast and everyone went home. It was my best birthday party ever. My friends
still talk about it now 2 years later! (And my parents loved it because the only thing they had to pay for was the food.) It was really a great party."
